Competition Terms & Conditions

  1. The competition to find the Barclays Fan of Hong Kong (“BFOHK”) is open only to Hong Kong residents aged 18 or over, excluding staff of Barclays, staff of Barclays affiliates, agents of Barclays and its affiliates or any other person(s) materially connected with the administration of the BFOHK competition (including judges and third party promotional partners).

  2. The Winner and runners-up will be selected by a panel of judges from all valid entries received on or before 12 midnight Hong Kong time on 3 July 2011 (“the Closing Date”). Prizes will be awarded to entrants who demonstrate they are the best and most passionate fans of the Barclays Premier League. They will be chosen by the BFOHK judging panel.

  3. The first prize is a trip to the UK for two people to watch a Barclays Premier League team of the winner’s choice and also a VIP experience for two people (the “VIPs”) at the Barclays Asia Trophy at Hong Kong Stadium on both 27 and 30 July 2011. Both VIPs must satisfy the criteria set out in paragraph 1 above. The trip to the UK includes flights and three nights’ hotel accommodation for two people. The Barclays Asia Trophy VIP experience includes two tickets to both days of the tournament, a meeting with competition judge Marcel Desailly, and travel to and from Hong Kong Stadium to the winner’s home (for the winner and their guest). Five runners-up will win signed Barclays Premier League merchandise.

  4. Eligible persons under these terms and conditions can enter the competition by logging on to http://www.barclaysfootball.com and submitting their own words, pictures and video as to why they should be crowned 'Barclays Fan of Hong Kong'.   5. Only one entry per person may be submitted and accepted, which will become the property of Barclays and its affiliates and will not be returned. Entrants who submit more than one entry may be disqualified. Entrants represent that they own the copyright in or have permission to use any materials submitted for the competition. Barclays and its affiliates will not be responsible for breach of any copyright or other third party rights by the entrants.

  6. All entries must be received on or before the Closing Date and any entries received afterwards will not be considered. Barclays will not accept responsibility for any late submissions, any entries that are not received (notwithstanding any proof of posting or/and submission) or any entries or files that are corrupt, damaged, lost or inaccessible.

  7. Entries that do not comply with these terms and conditions of the competition will be disqualified. Any entries that are illegible or incomplete or contain offensive, fraudulent or unlawful content will be disqualified. All entrants accept and agree to comply with these terms and conditions of this competition and reasonable instructions from Barclays. Barclays reserves the right to exclude entrants, withhold or request return of prizes for violation of any of these terms and conditions.

  8. The Winner and runners-up are responsible for ensuring they are able to accept prizes as set out in these terms and conditions. This includes, for example arranging their own passport, travel visa and insurance, providing valid and up to date contact details and complying with these conditions and/ or reasonable instructions from Barclays. If the first person chosen as the Winner or runner-up is not contactable, unable to accept or receive a prize, Barclays may offer the prize to the next runner-up and so on until all prizes have been won.

  9. Barclays will not charge for entry into the competition but entrants may incur charges for internet access, postage and other charges imposed by third parties, which entrants shall be responsible for.

  10. Judging will take place on a date specified by Barclays and will be conducted by judges appointed by Barclays who have no connection with the administration of the BFOHK competition. The judges will award the prizes to those entries they consider to have come from the most passionate and fanatical Barclays Premier League supporters. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entertained.

  11. The Winner and runners-up will be notified no later than 14 days after the Closing Date via email or telephone. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact them during this time.

  12. Barclays will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of organising or holding this competition, except in the case of death or personal physical injury caused by the acts or omissions of Barclays (including its affiliates) or its employees.

  13. There is no cash or other alternative to any prize stated and the prize is not transferable and no part or parts of any prize may be substituted for other benefits, items or additions. However, Barclays may at any time cancel, modify or supersede any prize (including altering prizes) if it considers that the competition is no longer capable of being conducted as specified. Barclays can also substitute a prize of equal value if this is unavoidable due to circumstances beyond Barclays reasonable control. If Barclays has reasonable cause to believe that any prize draw has been compromised in any way, it reserves the right to cancel the prize draw outright, or declare individual entries invalid.

  14. By entering, any subsequent prize winners (including VIPs) agree to allow, and consent without the need to inform prior to, Barclays use of, and right to publish, their names, photographs, images, all personal and other information (including general locations) and any videos and other audio-visual material submitted by an entrant and in relation to this competition, for purposes of Barclays publicity, promotional and news purposes (including but not limited to use in printed publications, editorial and PR activities, on websites) related to this competition. Any such use by Barclays shall be entirely within Barclays discretion and Barclays shall be under no obligation to use the aforementioned.

  15. The Winner, VIPs and runners-up will be required to submit valid identification before receiving their prize, including evidence of a valid right to residence in Hong Kong and a valid travel visa where necessary. Winners will need to make and be responsible for their own travel insurance arrangements to cover the prize trips, and where applicable, will be responsible for any and all taxes, expenses and gratuities not expressly included in and as part of the prize. The Winner and VIPs agree to accept all blackout dates, space availability requirements, etc. established by Barclays' prize partner(s), such as hotels, airlines etc. The Winner and VIPs agree that acceptance of any trip taken as a prize is entirely upon their own initiative, risk, and responsibility.

  16. Without prejudice to any of these terms and conditions, the names of the Winner and runners-up will be available to anyone emailing barclaysfootball@lexispr.com within 21 days of the Closing Date.

  17. The Promoter of the Barclays Fan of Hong Kong competition is Barclays Bank PLC (“Barclays”).

  18. Barclays reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Any amendments will be published on http://www.barclaysfootball.com
